Luther King Jr was Born January 15, 1929, Atlanta, GA, Martin Luther King Jr was a widely known african-american political figure of his time. Dr.King was non-violent protester and does not believe in violence. Dr.King's Speeches and teaching are based upon Mahatma Gandhi. Lead 8 Peaceful Protest, Dr. King believed that nonviolent protest is the most effective weapon against a racist and unjust society. He would teach his followers about this philosophy even if they were White or Black. Dr.King is known for his famous “ I have a Dream “ Speech. Here is a piece of the speech from American Rhetoric”I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted, and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain, and the crooked places will be made straight; "and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together." The meaning of this line means that he believes that black and whites should seal their fates together as people and citizens of the United States of America.

Born on May 19, 1925, in Omaha, Nebraska, Malcolm X was a prominent black nationalist leader who served as a spokesman for the Nation of Islam during the 1950s and '60s.Articulate, passionate and a naturally gifted and inspirational orator, Malcolm X exhorted blacks to cast off the shackles of racism "by any means necessary," including violence. The fiery civil rights leader broke with the group shortly before his assassination on February 21, 1965, at the Audubon Ballroom in Manhattan, where he had been preparing to deliver a speech.
By: Michael OConnor Simularities Malcolm X and Mlk are similar in many ways. They were both leaders of the civil rights movement of the 1960s. They both wanted equality for blacks and whites, and they both made countless speeches, and lead many marches. Differances Mlk and Malcolm X were different in many ways. First is their religion, Malcolm X was a part of Sunni Islam, while MLk was Christian. Malcolm X was interested first in African-Americans taking control of their own lives, but MLK looked forward to a time when blacks and whites would all sit together at the same table of "brotherhood". Malcolm X believed in more violent ways of protesting, while Mlk believed in a more peaceful method. |
